BADGEM

Monday 26 January 2015

BADGEM (the British Association of Dermatologists Dermatology and Genetic Medicine) is a newly formed UK-wide clinical network dedicated to rare genetic diseases of the skin. Established jointly in 2013 by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) and the Centre for Dermatology and Genetic Medicine (DGEM), BADGEM is currently led by Professor Irene Leigh and is governed by a steering group comprising of national experts in the UK.

BADGEM had been set up as a company which is light touch as two officers of BAD are the company directors (BAD Academic Vice President - Irene Leigh and treasurer - Richard Groves) but its functions are determined by the steering group. In order to drive progress forward in key areas, three working subgroups of BADGEM have been established: (i) Informatics/Disease Registers, (ii) Clinical and Diagnostic Signposting and (iii) Clinical Trials, each led by experts in the UK.
